Cheshbon Nefesh · Last updated August 4, 2026

Cheshbon Nefesh is a Mussar habit-tracking app made by Luzzy (Elazar Stefansky), an independent developer. The short version: everything you record stays on your device, there are no accounts and no analytics, and nothing is ever sold to anyone.

Data stored on your device

Everything you create in the app — your name (if you enter one during onboarding), the character traits and habits you track, journal entries, photos you attach, streaks, and settings — is stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to us. We do not operate any server that receives your content, and we have no ability to see it.

No account required

Cheshbon Nefesh does not have user accounts. You are never asked to sign up, log in, or provide an email address to use the app.

Subscriptions and purchases

Cheshbon Nefesh offers an optional subscription. Payment is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we never see or store your payment details.

To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated identifier and your purchase/subscription status (for example, whether a trial or subscription is active). It does not receive your name, your email, or any of the content you create in the app.

No tracking, no analytics

Reminders and notifications

If you enable reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data leaves your phone.

Backups

You can export a backup of your data from the app. Backups are created only when you choose to, and are saved or shared to a destination you pick. What happens to that file (for example, saving it to a cloud drive) is entirely under your control.

Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time from the app's settings, or by deleting the app. To cancel a subscription, use your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
